Marshal of France, Prince of the Moskva

Michel Ney

France 10 January 1769 – 7 December 1815

In 1814: Commander of Young Guard divisions

Ney was the "bravest of the brave" of the retreat from Moscow. In 1814 he led the Young Guard through every one of the February battles.

In April he was the most outspoken of the marshals who told Napoleon at Fontainebleau that the army would not march on Paris. A year later he rejoined Napoleon during the Hundred Days, and in December 1815 he was shot for it.
