Prussian field marshal

Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher

Prussia 16 December 1742 – 12 September 1819

In 1814: Commander of the Army of Silesia

He was seventy-one years old and full of energy. His men called him "Marshal Forwards". Blücher was the most aggressive Allied commander, and that made him Napoleon’s first target every time.

In February his eagerness to reach Paris left his corps strung along a single road, and the Six Days were the result. He nearly lost his army, but he recovered within days, and his persistence did more than anything else to bring the campaign to an end.
