Napoléon à la bataille de Montereau
Anonymous print, Rijksmuseum, after 1814
A popular print of the Emperor at Montereau. Tradition says that, with his gunners hesitating under fire, he aimed a cannon himself and told them that the ball that would kill him had not yet been cast.
